A Message from the Executive Director
As we step into the Spring 2026 issue of Insights, we are filled with gratitude and excitement for the continued impact our organization is having across Fort Bend County. Our programs continue to expand, reaching more families, youth, and individuals, and offering assistance to those affected by crime. Your support makes this life-changing work possible. We began the year with tremendous energy at our January orientation for the Youth Ambassador Leadership Education (Y.A.L.E.) program. This year marks a big milestone—ten years of Y.A.L.E. shaping young leaders, building confidence and creating pathways for success. Seeing a new cohort step forward while celebrating a decade of positive impact reminds us just how powerful investment in youth can be. Also in January, we welcomed our new Program Coordinator, Dr. Sharon Delesbore, who brings a wealth of experience to FLCRC. Her background in education, leadership, and community advocacy will provide valuable guidance as we continue to grow and deepen our impact. We invite you to join us in extending a warm welcome to Dr. Delesbore as she becomes part of the FLCRC team. In February, our Black History Month Celebration brought the community together in a vibrant and inspiring way. The event showcased talented performers and powerful speakers, including members of the Y.A.L.E. program, who shared their voices with passion and pride. It was a meaningful reminder of the strength and unity within our community. Looking ahead, we are thrilled that our Y.A.L.E. student leaders will travel to Toronto, Canada and Niagara Falls this July. You can help make this transformative experience possible by donating at FamilyLifeCRC.org/yale-canada. Additionally, we invite you to support our plans to expand our summer enrichment camp program. Learn more and make a donation at FamilyLifeCRC.org/campaign. Thank you for your continued generosity and belief in our mission. Together, we are creating lasting change. Sincerely,
Ilene Harper, Ph.D. |
Y.A.L.E. Kicks Off Its Tenth Year: FLCRC Recognizes a Decade of Positively Impacting Our YouthThe Youth Ambassador Leadership and Education (Y.A.L.E.) program kicked off its tenth year with an energetic Orientation Meeting on January 10th. Our student leaders have already had a busy year. On February 7th, they planned for upcoming events and volunteer opportunities. On February 28th, many of served as volunteers and presenters at our Black History Month Celebration (see the following article). On March 21st, they held a car wash fundraiser to support their upcoming trip to Canada (see Announcements & Upcoming Events). We are proud of the leadership, service, and character our students continue to demonstrate and are excited for our tenth year of this impactful program! |
Keeping Black History Alive in 2026On Saturday, February 28th, FLCRC hosted the second annual Black History Month Celebration, Keeping Black History Alive. The program featured a variety of inspiring presentations and performances, including music, poetry, spoken word and dramatic interpretation. Guests also enjoyed refreshments, prize drawings, and an impressive display of history and art exhibits. Thank you to all who attended and helped make this a memorable occasion! February 28th may have closed out Black History Month—but it did not close out the impact, excellence, and enduring legacy of Black culture in America. Together, we will continue to Keep Black History Alive! |
