FEATURED SPEAKER
Shilonda Shamlin
Shilonda Shamlin received her Bachelor of Arts – Merchandising/Marketing – at Louisiana Tech University, and her Master of Arts – Educational Leadership – at Louisiana State University. She is a member of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc., initiated with the Theta Lambda Chapter at Louisiana Tech University in Spring 1989.
Shilonda will retire this year after having served the East Baton Rouge Parish School System for thirty years. Her roles have included teacher, principal, and instructional specialist. She currently serves as instructional specialist at the East Baton Rouge Parish Juvenile Detention Center. Her goal is to empower teachers to provide daily rigorous on level instruction to students who have tremendous achievement gaps, and who have met little or no success in the traditional classroom setting. Shilonda is passionate about building support systems to aid in the success of our most challenged youth. She is convinced that a rigorous education can provide a foundation to help young people grow and make positive changes in their lives.
Shilonda is married to her soul mate, Gwynn Shamlin, esquire. They will celebrate their 28th year wedding anniversary this year. They have three sons Gwynn III, Connor, and Brent. Gwynn III has graduated from Southeastern Louisiana University. Connor is a senior at Louisiana State University, and Brent attends Trinity Lutheran Pre-school. Shilonda exclaims, “all credit, all glory, and all honor goes to God for everything in my life that is good!”

Individual tickets are $30 each.
