“It is my dream to go to college like my big sister. My goal is to be a pro athlete in gymnastics. I am a very hard worker in school. I have been a Y.A.L.E. leader for two years, and my favorite two things about the program are volunteering in the community and attending the summer camp. Being in Y.A.L.E. has helped me to become a better person.”

“My long-term goal is to pursue higher education and eventually a career that allows me to merge business and community advocacy with a focus on sports medicine. A college education will provide me with the tools, knowledge, and network to take the work I’ve started to a larger scale. I want to use my degree not only to secure my own future but to create programs and opportunities that will continue to uplift others, especially those who feel overlooked. My life experiences have taught me the value of perseverance, responsibility, and service. They have prepared me for the next chapter, where I can continue to grow as a student, an entrepreneur, and most importantly, as a servant-leader.”

“I am passionate about medicine and am currently taking Medical Terminology in high school. I have also applied for a Health Science Clinicals course, which includes a daily trip to the hospital. This year, I also started working as an assistant coach for Premier Martial Arts, and started my own auto detailing service. This business taught me money and time management, and that going above and beyond for your clients is a way to build trust and show your character.”

“I hope to pursue a STEM-related major after high school and plan to use this major and higher education for the rest of my life. My current goal is to hone in on my academics and eventually get into a good college, which I hope to transfer into a fruitful career. As my life progresses, I will deepen my studies, which will hopefully translate to future successes and opportunities in my life.”

“My passion for service learning has shaped both my academic and personal life, and I am determined to use my education to expand the impact of my business, Mr. Thirsty. Through my initiative, Sips of Service, I support my community. My life experiences so far, especially running Sips of Service, have prepared me for the next steps in my life. I have learned the value of hard work, how to handle responsibilities, and most importantly how to use my business to support others.”

“Ever since I was a little girl, I always wanted to achieve big dreams. I have set my life accordingly to my plan. I have a wonderful foundation and support system. Life hasn’t always been easy for me, but I have brought the good out of the bad and turned it into something amazing. I was taught at a very young age to always be blessed and grateful for the things that I have and the things I don’t have.”

“I am a high school freshman with straight-As and a member of the National Junior Honor Society. Outside of school, much of my time is allotted to my commitment to music and volunteering. I play the cello. I make the commute to the University of Houston every week to rehearse with the Houston Youth Symphony and participate in concerts. I placed seventh in my high school region this year and made it to the Symphonic orchestra.”

“Academically, I have consistently maintained high grades while challenging myself with advanced courses. I am proud to be in the running for valedictorian. In addition to academics, I founded a club in 2023 to provide STEM enrichment classes for elementary schoolers every week. Additionally, I volunteer as a math tutor at the same elementary school, which lets younger students grasp concepts advanced for their age.”

“I realized that I wanted to become a psychologist when my friends started coming to me for advice. I found myself interested in the field after doing some research. My goal of becoming a psychologist stems from my passion for understanding human behavior and my desire to help society. With my involvement in FLCRC, I have developed strong communication skills. “The ultimate goals I hope to gain from this scholarship beyond the university is to attain success in my future career and the ability to give back to my community in some way such as donations or charitable work. In addition to academics, I have also taken on teamwork and leadership in school, in the community, and with FLCRC as the computer lab tech internship. “Through teaching, I gained a greater appreciation for my own teachers and fellow students. I learned how to respectfully communicate with others. As a matter of fact, I learned how to respectfully communicate in four languages. Teaching and learning new languages require conflict management. This conflict management extends to everything I do in life. What I have learned from teaching and practicing conflict management has deeply enriched my life.”

“The goal I am working towards is getting my law degree and partnering with organizations that help victims of domestic and sexual assault get the legal representation they deserve. I want to be able to provide sensitivity training to young lawyers working on these cases. I hope through these organizations I am able to network and take part in their community service activities around Houston.”
