A Message from the Executive Director
While we continue to deal with the impact of COVID-19, the Family Life and Community Resource Center is very excited to invite you to our upcoming Grand Reopening on August 27th. We are located at 821 Hwy 90A East in Richmond, Texas adjacent to Tiny Toons Daycare. FLCRC have been empowering youth and serving families for years. We are very excited to be Celebrating 10 Years of Service in our new facility. FLCRC’s new building will provide the opportunity for positive engagement with our youth and crime survivors. We have several counseling offices, a computer lab and a multi-purpose room to safely provide client services. With the help of our dedicated donors, volunteers, students, parents and staff, we are embarking on this amazing new chapter filled with hope and progressive plans for the future. Throughout this pandemic, FLCRC has remained committed to providing creative and innovative programs and services to assist youth and their families. Our Youth Ambassador Leadership Education (Y.A.L.E.) students earned 670 volunteer hours and completed 11 service-learning projects this fiscal year. Over the last three months, the Board members updated and shared FLCRC’s five-year strategic plan (2020-2024), which includes the Capital Campaign Economic Development goal of $250,000 this fiscal year. Furthermore, we hosted an amazing Summer Enrichment Camp for 25 students and provided several college tours for youth leaders in June. One parent commented, “Thank you for all you do for exposing our children to great College and Career experiences. It’s a wonderful opportunity for them and I am so happy that FLCRC provide this camp. My son really enjoys it!” FLCRC have a variety of interactive activities and events for the community. We are committed to Building Better Communities by Building Stronger Families. In July, we launched FLCRC’s Community Engagement Survey to learn how we could better serve families. Students Bounce Their Way to Fun!Students in grades 2nd-12th and college level had a blast at FLCRC’s “Bounce with Y.A.L.E.” Summer Enrichment Camp, which took place at our new building June 20th–24th. The schedule was packed with fun and educational activities, including interactive STEM lessons, sports sessions, a technology & entrepreneurship workshop, lab experiments, and more. Thank you to our staff, volunteers and Y.A.L.E. leaders for making this year’s camp a huge success! |
Youth Ambassadors Participate in College ToursOne of FLCRC’s goals is to encourage, motivate and prepare students to pursue their dreams through a college education. This June, our Y.A.L.E. student leaders embarked on several fun and informative college tours in the region, including visits to Prairie View A&M University on June 27th and Lamar University on June 29th. |
Congratulations to Our Y.A.L.E. Graduates!FLCRC presented three 2022 high school graduates and members of our Y.A.L.E. program, Aija, Jesús and Landon, with gift baskets on June 21st. We wish them all the best and will continue to support them in college and beyond! |
