A Message from the Executive DirectorFLCRC’s new building was the perfect location to host our Annual Summer Enrichment Camp. Twenty-eight students were excited to engage in physical fitness activities, STEM interactive lessons, painting patterns, college and career seminars, and financial literacy expos. The Children’s Museum and Texas State Technical College visits were also a hit. With the help of our dedicated donors, volunteers, students, parents and staff, we raised over $8,000 to support our Youth Ambassador Leadership Education (Y.A.L.E.) students’ travel to the Dominican Republic. FLCRC hosted a Hat and Tea Soirée on Saturday, April 22nd. Over 100 attendees enjoyed an elegant afternoon that included a hat and fascinator contest, delicious refreshments and an inspiring message, “Women on the Horizon,” by educator Shilonda Shamlin. The first-time event was a BIG success! We raised $1,500 to support our Y.A.L.E. students’ international trip. Over the last three months, Board members shared FLCRC’s Five-year Strategic Plan (2020-2024) and the success of achieving the Capital Campaign Economic Development goal of $250,000 this fiscal year. Furthermore, we hosted a College and Career Seminar on May 6th, where Fort Bend County Commissioner Dexter McCoy shared his career journey and experiences with our students. Likewise, a panel of dynamic college students led a Q&A session for the students and parents in attendance. We are committed to Building Better Communities by Building Stronger Families. In July, we launched FLCRC’s community engagement survey to learn how we could better serve families. We value your feedback and encourage you to complete the survey at the link below.
