A Message from the Executive DirectorWe have already had another busy year offering impactful events and services to our community. Our 7th Annual “Summer Enrichment with Y.A.L.E.” was definitely the highlight this quarter. Twenty-nine students were excited to engage with interactive sessions on financial literacy, STEM, creative arts, fitness and more. The 16-ft. inflatable water slide was definitely a BIG hit for everyone! This exciting five-day program kicked-off the Y.A.L.E. leaders’ summer enrichment activities and events. In April, our Y.A.L.E. leaders visited the Texas State Capitol, where they were given a tour and learned about the history of Texas. They also competed as two teams in a scavenger hunt, racing to locate important landmarks throughout the State Capitol grounds. The students took great pride in sharing their experience at the State Capitol during the April Y.A.L.E. meeting. During this meeting, they also walked through the Vera Institute Data Exhibit and engaged in some powerful discussions about their findings. Furthermore, on April 19th we hosted a CSSJ Healing Vigil to honor crime victims and survivors impacted by violence. Also on April 19th, we partnered with Reaching Richmond at their Community Wellness Block party and our Y.A.L.E. leaders volunteered to share information about local resources. FLCRC continues to be a great facility for hosting events. The Expose Excellence Scholarship Awards and Hello Heathy Hair launch were two very successful events held at FLCRC. We are committed to Building Better Communities by Building Stronger Families, and are always looking for ways to improve and expand the programs and services that we offer. We have launched our annual FLCRC Community Survey and encourage you to share your feedback at this link. The FLCRC Scholarships and Awards application period is also officially open, and we encourage students to learn more and apply at FamilyLifeCRC.org/scholarships-and-awards. They explored significant spaces within the building while learning about key historical moments in Texas and the legislature. The trip was followed by a high-energy Y.A.L.E. meeting on April 13th where they shared about their experiences at the Capitol and completed a career interests inventory. |

Additional activities included daily exercises, outdoor sports and games, and an inflatable water slide. We also had a special time of recognition for our graduating seniors on the final day.
