A Message from the Executive DirectorFLCRC marked another highly successful year in 2024. We provided support to 328 families In October, FLCRC took part in the Annual Fort Bend County District Attorney Bike Ride, advocating for crime survivors, and collaborated with the NAACP and YMCA on several successful events. FLCRC also hosted the first in-person National Bullying Awareness Conference since the COVID-19 pandemic. We facilitated an open discussion on personal experiences with bullying and potential solutions. The event was capped off with a live Y.A.L.E. Podcast, led by Y.A.L.E. leaders. Finally, we launched the annual community survey to collect first-hand information and feedback regarding our programs. FLCRC’s motto is to THRIVE IN 2025! We invite you to join us on this remarkable journey. In the summer, we will unveil the FLCRC 2025-2030 five-year strategic plan. Biking for SurvivorsOn October 5th, FLCRC staff members participated in Fort Bend County DA Brian Middleton’s Fourth Annual Ride for Survivors. This annual fundraiser provides grants to local non-profits that help provide emergency support services for domestic violence survivors. FLCRC is proud to offer free services to crime survivors. Dr. Harper Completes Fort Bend County Citizens Police AcademyOn October 11th, FLCRC Executive Director Dr. Ilene Harper received her Certificate of Completion of the 2024 Fort Bend County Citizens Police Academy. This 9-month program trains community members to be effective advocates for law enforcement and the criminal justice system. |
Standing Against BullyingOn October 26th, students, parents and community members attended the FLCRC National Bullying Awareness Community Conference. FLCRC Participates in the Annual NAACP Business and Community ShowcaseOn November 16th, FLCRC volunteers shared materials about our programs and services at the NAACP Missouri City & Vicinity Branch Business and Community Showcase. This annual event provides an opportunity for local businesses and nonprofits to connect with community members and network with other organizations. |
T.W. Davis Family YMCA to Reopen in 2027On November 18th, Fort Bend County Commissioner Dexter L. McCoy presented an award of $2.5 million to the Richmond YMCA Board of Trustees. This grant will support the rebuilding of the T.W. Davis Family YMCA, scheduled to re-open in 2027. Dr. Ilene Harper, who serves as a YMCA Board Member, was pleased to participate in this exciting event marking a new chapter for the Richmond YMCA! |
8th Annual FLCRC Banquet: A Beautiful Evening of Celebration and GratitudeOn Saturday, December 7, 2024, 140 staff members, volunteers, supporters and friends of FLCRC gathered to celebrate an incredible year of growth and impact. The program included a silent auction, an inspiring keynote message from State Farm Insurance Manager and leadership mentor Damion Simon, fantastic catering by Micheaux’s Southern Cuisine, and live performances from our Y.A.L.E. student leaders. We honored our 2024 Y.A.L.E. leaders, presented scholarships and awards, and recognized CSSJ Richmond Chapter members. The sold-out event raised over $13,000 in proceeds. |

2024 Community Survey ResultsWe conducted our annual community survey this winter. 29 respondents shared helpful insights into 2024. We are exploring ways to better engage our community to participate in this survey in the coming years, as it provides important data that is very useful for improving what we do. |
